Each chapter is easy to digest and provides a reasonable and practical way for students to increase their understanding in math class. Many of Gina's suggestions are spot on with suggestions I have made while teaching math over the last 14 years. Grab this book today!

A very simple to understand book about how to learn, study and understand math. It is a very quick read with very valuable information.
So helpful. The ideas in the book helped to turn around my daughters grade in the 11th hour! Best of all, because of how it is written (fun,to the point, easy to understand), SHE read it without feeling like I had given her extra work to do.
I love how she demystifies math with simple, easy to follow "rules". As a teacher, I am using some of what I learned while reading this book with my students- especially the Pomodoro Cycle. I would recommend this to anyone who has, at ANY TIME, seen math as a foreign language!
Gina, the Nerdy Math Girl, gives easy and practical steps for any level math student to get the most out of class and a better grade! Step by step guidelines are given, such as "struggling" through homework, practicing class, homework, and book problems, re-writing class notes, taking needed breaks, and even how helping a classmate can help you more! Each chapter is summarized with a "take away" from that chapter, i.e. a "to do" list. There are 21 steps in all to improve your grade, all written in a witty and easy to understand format. Bonus...these steps can help in all subjects of a student's study life and real life.
Wow! Gina hits it out of the park with this one. This book is a must read for three groups. Teachers need to read this one and adopt some of the teaching methodologies and philosophy. Adoption and implementation of these will go a long way toward producing better math students and problem solvers. Parents need to read this in order to be best positioned to help their own kids on this journey of math. And, YES, students need to read and utilize the practical steps The Nerdy Math Girl lays out here for those who wish to increase their proficiency (And grades) in math and become better problem solvers. I wish this information had been available when I was in school studying math (poorly, I might add) and when my own sons were in school studying math! Great job Gina! Keep up the great work!
